Gary Keith Hogeboom (born August 21 1958) is an ex- American football player who played playing in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts and Phoenix Cardinals. He played his college football on the field at Central Michigan University. He was an actor for the CBS reality television reality show Survivor: Guatemala.
The year 1982 saw him surpassed Glenn Carano on the depth chart to take over the backup quarterback position following Danny White. The 1982 NFC championship match against Washington Redskins, he replaced an injured White in the beginning of the second quarter and was able to help the team get back into the game with two scoring drives in succession, until he made two crucial interceptions. One was which was returned with Darryl Grant for a touchdown which sealed the loss 31-17. He scored 14 of 29 attempts to gain 162 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. The player began to attract attention and drew the attention from Cowboys coaches as well as players by his performance.
Prior to the 1983 season, the Cowboy players and fans began to lobby for Hogeboom to be the starting quarterback. White had led the team to three straight NFC Championship game appearances after taking over for Hall of Famer Roger Staubach, but couldn’t win a Super Bowl. The players also felt that White had betrayed them because of his public support for the NFL team owners during the 1982 NFL players strike. In the 1984 pre-season, Hogeboom completed 18 out of 32 attempts for 255 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions, compared to White’s 46 out of 83 attempts for 609 yards, 3 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.
Hogeboom was chosen for his team the Dallas Cowboys in the fifth round (133rd overall) of the 1980 NFL Draft. In his rookie year, Hogeboom earned himself a roster spot after the departure of Roger Staubach. He was the third quarterback in his initial two seasons.

At this point the NFL Players Association chose to call a work stoppage and Hogeboom was one of the handful of players who chose to cross the picket lines and keep playing.
